“This is our year,” said Dawn Lawrence, managing director of Q Hair and Beauty, after the Chichester salon scooped another two major awards on Saturday evening, crowning a glorious list of achievements over the past 12 months.
At a glittering ceremony held at Fontwell Racecourse in West Sussex, not only was Q named Best Hair Salon in the ETC Magazine annual awards but also owner Anthony Barnes-Smith received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement award.
The past 12 months have seen a tremendous string of achievements. For the first time, turnover at Q Hair and Beauty, which has 16 stylists, 5 therapists and 8 admin team, has topped the £1m mark, a staggering 68 per cent increase since 2010.
At the beginning of 2015, Q was awarded the prestigious Clarins Gold Status. This accolade had been the goal for the award-winning salon for five years but to receive the Gold Salon ranking was a big and daunting challenge for a small business and meant huge commitment from its dedicated team.
The past 12 months have seen Team Q make their mark in a host of important awards including the British Hairdressing Business Awards Best Salon Team, and the Salon Business Awards Ultimate Large Salon.
Now, as 2015 draws towards a close, the Etc Magazine’s Best Hair Salon and Lifetime Achievement title for Anthony Barnes-Smith add another fitting tribute to the multi-award-winning salon, in a year which also saw Anthony celebrate an incredibly successful 55 years in the hairdressing industry and his 70th birthday with a spectacular QFest in a beautiful woodland glade.
“This has been a fantastic year for us and Anthony and I are so proud of our team and thrilled to see all their efforts acknowledged by prestigious awards,” said Dawn Lawrence. “These accolades reflect the hard work and dedication of all the Q team and make worthwhile the enormous efforts we put into training and encouraging our team to always be the very best they can be.”
