The team at the Gatsby and Miller hairdressing salon in Amersham love to be involved in community events and they really put their skates on to make sure the town’s combined Showcase and Small Business Saturday event on December 5 was a huge success yet again.
Not only was the salon team transformed into Snow White characters for the day, it also sponsored a skating rink which was a stunning centrepiece on the forecourt of St Michael’s church, at the heart of the festivities. The rink, which came to Amersham for the first time this year, proved hugely popular with young and old alike.
John Roads, director of Gatsby and Miller, said: “We believe very strongly in putting something back into the community so we were delighted to sponsor the skating rink. It was huge fun for all ages and a perfect way to get into the festive spirit in the run-up to Christmas.”
Chris Wilson, chairman of the Amersham Action Group which organised the Showcase, said the event was timed to coincide with Small Business Saturday which celebrates the strength and diversity of local small businesses of all kinds.
“John has embraced the event from the outset and has been hugely positive about it all,” he said. “It’s a great celebration of Amersham on the Hill and the skating rink which Gatsby & Miller sponsored was a huge attraction for this area.”
As well as making a donation to a local charity, the Hospice of St Francis, Gatsby and Miller also celebrated the Showcase in style, with clients greeted by a stunning sight on the day of the festivities as the salon had become a winter wonderland for the occasion. The special theme won one of only 100 prizes awarded nationwide by Small Business Saturday for the spectacular idea.
Strong investors in the local community, Gatsby & Miller won an invite to 10 Downing Street, in their support of Small Business Saturday in 2014.
